Η ναυπήγησή του ολοκληρώθηκε την 1η Οκτωβρίου του ίδιου έτους με αριθμό 260 στα ναυπηγεία Noord Nederlandse Scheepswerven στο Groningen της Ολλανδίας για λογαριασμό της N.V. Στις 24 Ιουλίου 1981 το φορτηγό πλοίο Marianna χωρητικότητας 2.999 εμπορευματικών τόνων γεμάτο με κριθάρι, λαμαρίνες, σωλήνες νερού - άρδευσης και λιπάσματα συγκρούστηκε με έναν ύφαλο, γνωστό σήμερα ως Αμάρα, γέμισε με νερό και βυθίστηκε. Τα 24 άτομα που αποτελούσαν το πλήρωμα απομακρύνθηκαν με ασφάλεια.
